Marc Márquez won the 2026 Motul Grand Prix of Japan, securing a flawless weekend double by winning both Saturday's sprint and Sunday's main race at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit. By executing a decisive pass on lap 11, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider defeated his chief title rival, Jorge Martín.
Jorge Martín held the lead from pole position for the first 10 laps before Márquez made his winning dive on the inside. Behind them, Martín's Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi held off a fierce late-race surge from KTM's Enea Bastianini to secure the final step on the podium.
This victory has dramatically reshaped the 2026 World Championship standings, cutting Martín's lead to a mere two points with six rounds remaining in the season.
